Evaluating key capabilities for developing global collaborative networks using a multi-layer decision-making approach

Purpose This paper proposes a multi-layer hybrid decision-making approach to evaluate the capability alternatives for developing collaborative network operate in international market. Design/methodology/approach The present study is contextualised Iranian pistachio export industry. An extensive review of state-of-the-art literature on supplier collaboration was conducted identify key capabilities that are essential establish network. set defined were then optimised through interviews with 14 experts from relevant industry, academics and authorities. A combination fuzzy Delphi method best–worst (BWM) was, respectively, used reduce number assign priority weights these alternatives. Subsequently, weighted aggregated sum product assessment (WASPAS) employed rank ability creating pistachio. Findings From extant review, 18 formation coordination networks markets identified. Then, prominent indicators forming global extracted. After ranking top countries/regions formalise an efficient network, it revealed although Iran exports approximately 30% market, falls behind USA European Union. competitors have scored higher critical criteria, including “trust commitment”, “strategy management”, “managerial control standardization” “financial resources”. Originality/value proposed encompassing Delphi–BWM–WASPAS offers solve evaluation selection as well possible alternative integrated fashion. methods capable first most important factors, measuring their importance eventually suggested framework provides deal uncertainty formation.
